"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease." "Flax makes insulin more

Niacinamide supplementation can help prevent type 1 diabetes. Dietary supplementation
with DMG (Dimethylglycine) improves cellular utilization of glucose, resulting in
more normal blood glucose levels, increased energy level and
prevention of weight gain. Scientists use
MSG (monosodium glutamate)
to create obese rats to be used in diet experiments. 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon
triples insulin efficiency. Some doctors are calling
cinnamon the "poor person's insulin". Insulin function
is also improved by DMG, cloves, iodine, vinegar, vitamin D and flax oil. Cancer eats
sugar, so high blood sugar provides a banquet for cancer
cells. ...some researchers now
think Australia's "slip, slop, slap" campaign [slip on a shirt,
slop on sunscreen, and slap on a hat] to prevent skin cancer may
have led to their current epidemic of type 2 diabetes. Studies
have shown that the lower your vitamin D level, the higher your
blood glucose. (Clin Endocrinol 05;62(6):738-741)
Glyconutrients are necessary for the immune system to
function properly. People with cancer, diabetes and many other
health problems have found remarkable benefits from
supplementing their diet with glyconutrients. Capsaicin, found it hot chili peppers, is
useful for
both
type 1 and
type 2 diabetes, and
kills
cancer cells. There is a balance between
insulin production and human
growth hormone utilization in the body. When utilization
of growth hormone declines as we age, the blood sugar that would
have been used for growth needs to be removed by insulin.
Restoring utilization of human growth hormone reverses many of
the negative effects of aging, plus lowers the body's demand for
insulin. |
When you eat carbohydrates, the end product of digestion is the simple sugar glucose. When the amount of glucose entering the bloodstream is not excessive, it can all be used by the cells as fuel. Glucose is carried into the cells by insulin which is manufactured by beta-cells in the pancreas. There are two places where sugar metabolism can go awry. If the pancreas produces insufficient insulin then sugar cannot enter the cells (Type 1 diabetes). If the cells do not respond to insulin then sugar cannot enter the cells (Type 2 diabetes). Blood sugar can be too high because we have eaten too much sugar, or it can be too high because the body cannot metabolize the sugar properly. This is why the test for diabetes uses "fasting blood sugar" to eliminate the possibility that high blood sugar is due to something we recently ate. More than 90% of people with diabetes have Type 2 diabetes. Diabetes is rare in some countries and skyrocketing in others. In the United States, both types of diabetes are rising rapidly, and it is estimated that 30 to 40% of American children born today will get diabetes. Diabetes is one of those diseases where official medicine says "the cause is unknown" and "there is no cure". The body is extraordinarily complex. Different tissues may be designed to respond differently to the same stimulus. Or tissues can respond inappropriately to a stimulus. It may take science a long time to sort things out. Like cancer and heart disease, you are on your own. However, for the prevalence of a disease to grow so quickly, there must be some fundamental problems with our diet and lifestyle. Diet and lifestyle are things we can do something about.
Watch Your Diet In order to study Type 1 diabetes in the laboratory, scientists create Type 1 diabetes in experimental animals by feeding them certain toxic substances that destroy the beta-cells. One of these beta-cell destroying substances is a chemical called alloxan, which just happens to be added to white flour during its manufacture. We do not suggest that alloxan is responsible for all Type 1 diabetes. More likely, there is a combination of factors involved, of which alloxan is one. However, if you need a reason to avoid eating white flour, this is a good one. Another reason to avoid white flour is that it contains bromide, which interferes with iodine in the body. Iodine is important to your thyroid gland which regulates your metabolic rate. Metabolic rate, insulin and diabetes are all related because your metabolism runs on fat and glucose. Iodine's ability to revive hormonal sensitivity seems to significantly improve insulin sensitivity. “We since have done a study of twelve diabetics and in six cases we were able to wean all of these patients off of medications for their diabetes. The range of daily iodine intake was from 50 mg to 100 mg per day. All diabetic patients were able to lower the total amount of medications necessary to control their diabetes.” - Dr. Jorge D. Flechas Another factor is undoubtedly stress and fatigue of the beta-cells. There once was a time when people ate very little sugar. Refined foods (white sugar, white flour, white rice) were for the rich. Today the average American eats his/her weight in sugar each year. The pancreas must find this exhausting. How could it be otherwise?
Learn About the Glycemic Index Eating a refined food (sugar and starch) snack or meal causes blood sugar to soar. The result is the production of a massive amount of insulin by the pancreas, which causes blood sugar to plummet and then you feel intensely hungry, even though you ate just a short while before. This is why people who eat high glycemic index meals eat more often and tend to become obese. For a more stable blood sugar, you need to eat complex carbohydrates that take longer to digest and so create a moderate rise in blood sugar over a prolonged period of time. This is much easier on the pancreas. Complex carbohydrates are in vegetables, legumes, whole grains and fruits. This is the same diet we recommend for cancer and heart disease. Soft drinks, sugary fruit drinks, and refined grain products (white flour, white rice) are digested quickly and lead to wide swings in blood sugar. Excess sugar not needed by cells for energy is stored in the liver as glycogen. When the liver has enough glycogen, it starts converting glucose to fat. Sucrose sugar breaks down into glucose and fructose. The glucose is carried into cells by insulin to be burned for energy. The fructose is converted to fat. Fructose sugar does not stimulate an insulin response. Instead it goes directly to the liver where it is converted to fat. One of the causes of the present epidemic of obesity is high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). HFCS is cheaper than sugar and is found in manufactured food products in great quantities. "Unlike table sugar, HFCS doesn't trigger the release of leptin, the substance that makes you feel full and stop eating. Worse still, it doesn't suppress the release of ghrelin, the substance that makes you hungry." - Dr. David Williams. If you want to control your weight, it is absolutely necessary to avoid any products that contain high fructose corn syrup. HFCS is a manufactured product that first entered the food supply in the 1970's. More than any other food, HFCS is responsible for the obesity epidemic.
Rebuild Your Pancreas! The Ayurvedic herb Gymnema sylvestre can repair and regenerate the pancreas. - J Ethnopharm 90;30:265-279, 281-305, Int J Crude Drug Res 86;24[Dec]:171-176, J Vet Med Sci 97;59(9):753-7. Sources of this herb include your local health food store, Mountain Home Nutritionals at 800-888-1415, or phone Natrol at 800-326-1520 to find a store near you that sells it. As a general rule, it is probably better to rebuild your organs than take insulin, drugs, and/or supplements all of your life. Properly functioning organs offer the advantages of producing exactly what your body requires, in the right quantity and at the right time. Two organs of particular importance in fighting cancer are your liver which removes toxic chemicals from your body and your pancreas which creates digestive and metabolic enzymes, as well as insulin. More information regarding Gymnema sylvestre, including its use as a possible treatment for juvenile diabetes, is available in a special report from Dr. David Williams. The report is available for free when you subscribe to his Alternatives newsletter (highly recommended).
Get Some Exercise, Control Your Stress To prevent or treat diabetes, dealing effectively with stress is as important as improving diet. Stress causes the adrenal glands to produce adrenaline which in turn raises blood sugar as part of the "fight or flight" response. When blood sugar is high, the pancreas secretes insulin. The sugar and insulin are meant to provide energy for the muscles, but in our modern world stress rarely results in muscular exertion so the sugar remains in the blood. This is an important point. We need to exercise daily in order for our cells to use up the higher blood sugar resulting from the stresses of our daily life. Exercise can help lower your blood sugar and your weight. What happens if we do not exercise? In the absence of exercise the muscles simply do not need the extra fuel. It has nothing to do with "insulin resistance". There is nothing wrong with the cells. The body NEEDS regular exercise. This is how it was designed. What happens if we do not exercise? So long as the blood sugar remains elevated, the pancreas will continue secreting insulin. Triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood go up, leading the way to heart disease. The level of the stress hormone cortisol goes up. Cortisol causes insulin resistance in the non-muscle areas of the body.
Exhausted Glands and Organs Chronic stress will exhaust the adrenal glands. Chronic demand for insulin will exhaust the pancreas. Chronic exposure to toxic chemicals and alcohol will damage and exhaust the liver. An exhausted pancreas is unable to produce the pancreatic enzymes required to fight cancer. An exhausted adrenal gland produces less of the hormone aldosterone that is needed to maintain the proper balance between sodium and potassium in the body. This contributes to cancer and water retention (edema). The edema is caused by the body retaining fluid in order to dilute excess salt. When the liver, pancreas and adrenal glands are exhausted and you eat too much sugar, where does it go? The cancer tumor is a last resort adaptation designed to eat up the surplus sugar.
Diabetic Neuropathy Type 2 diabetes is associated with magnesium deficiency and a buildup of toxic substances in the body. Magnesium is a treatment for Diabetic Neuropathy. Supplementation with DMG also helps prevent complications from diabetes. Another treatment for the kidney, eye and nerve damage caused by diabetes is lipid soluble thiamine (vitamin B1) called benfotiamine. Thiamine becomes lipid soluble in the presence of allicin which is found in garlic. Faraday Cloth, trade named Farabloc may also be helpful with diabetic neuropathy as well as many other conditions. A healthy adult will probably not be bothered by high frequency electromagnetic radiation coming from all the electrical devices that constantly surround us these days. However, any area of your body that is less than healthy may be aggravated by constant bombardment from external sources of high frequency electromagnetism. Farabloc will block this external electromagnetic radiation.
*** *** There are two articles on diabetes in our Library. *** Thirty to forty percent of the people born today in the United States will get diabetes. People with diabetes are more likely to get cancer.
