There is a balance between insulin production and human growth hormone utilization in the body. When utilization of growth hormone declines as we age, the blood sugar that would have been used for growth needs to be removed by insulin. Restoring utilization of human growth hormone reverses many of the negative effects of aging, plus lowers the body's demand for insulin.

High fructose corn syrup can also be labelled as "corn sugar".

Sugar is more addictive than cocaine.

When you eat carbohydrates, the end product of digestion is the simple sugar glucose. When the amount of glucose entering the bloodstream is not excessive, it can all be used by the cells as fuel. Glucose is carried into the cells by insulin which is manufactured by beta-cells in the pancreas.

There are two places where sugar metabolism can go awry. If the pancreas produces insufficient insulin then sugar cannot enter the cells (Type 1 diabetes). If the cells do not respond to insulin then sugar cannot enter the cells (Type 2 diabetes). Either way, the amount of sugar in the blood becomes excessive and begins to cause damage.

Blood sugar can be high because we have eaten too much sugar, or it can be high because the body cannot metabolize the sugar properly. This is why the test for diabetes uses "fasting blood sugar" to eliminate the possibility that high blood sugar is due to something we recently ate.

More than 90% of people with diabetes have Type 2 diabetes.

Diabetes is rare in some countries and skyrocketing in others. In the United States, both types of diabetes are rising rapidly, and it is estimated that 30 to 40% of American children born today will get diabetes.

Diabetes is one of those diseases where official medicine says "the cause is unknown" and "there is no cure". Like cancer and heart disease, you are on your own. Genetics may play a role, but diabetes has skyrocketed in the past few decades while our genetics has not changed. For the prevalence of a disease to grow so quickly, there must be some fundamental problems with our diet and lifestyle. Diet and lifestyle are things we can do something about.

Get Some Sun

Finland is so far north that it receives very little sun in the winter. Finland has the world's highest rate of Type 1 diabetes. Children in Finland who were given 2,000 IU of vitamin D daily during the first year of life had a 78% reduced risk of Type 1 diabetes. Diabetes is rare in equatorial regions. Lack of vitamin D is associated with both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. People with Type 2 diabetes generally have low levels of vitamin D. Vitamin D improves insulin sensitivity.

Vitamin D Council recommended amounts

Based on the body's indicated daily vitamin D usage, the Vitamin D Council recommends the following amounts of supplemental vitamin D3 per day in the absence of proper sun exposure.

 - Healthy infants - 1,000 IU/day
 - Healthy children - 1,000 IU/day per every 25 lbs of body weight.
 - Healthy adults - 5,000 IU/day

Additionally, children and adults with chronic health conditions may need as much as double these amounts.

People of all ages, including children and seniors, are healthier if exposed to direct sunlight for a short time each day. However, in latitudes north of Los Angeles or Atlanta there is insufficient UVB radiation in sunlight to make vitamin D on the skin during the months from late October to early March, suggesting that using a UVB sunlamp for a few minutes each day would be very useful during these months. (Sperti has been making Vitamin D sunlamps since 1937.) An advantage of UVB on your skin making your vitamin D is that the skin makes many different variations of the vitamin. There is emerging evidence that one particular form of vitamin D, the water soluble vitamin D3 sulfate, can go places in the body that the fat soluble vitamin D3 cannot go. Vitamin D3 sulfate may be a key to combating health problems such as such as heart disease, obesity, chronic fatigue, autism, Alzheimer's and multiple sclerosis.

The body will not make from sunlight more vitamin D than it needs, so we suggest taking the oral supplements and let UVB light top up your vitamin D so that the body has all it wants.

However, a companion nutrient to vitamin D is vitamin K2. It is essential that the diet include sufficient vitamin K2 for all the benefits of vitamin D to be realized. Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium, and vitamin K2 ensures the calcium is utilized properly.

Also, a companion nutrient to calcium is magnesium. Now that increased vitamin D in the diet is allowing the body to absorb more calcium, it is essential that the diet also include adequate magnesium. A good source of magnesium is leafy green vegetables. A good magnesium supplement is magnesium citrate, or potassium magnesium citrate.

Toxic Gut Flora

There are about a thousand species and trillions of individual cells forming the "human biome" which is the vast community of bacteria, fungi and viruses living in and on the human body. These organisms compete with each other for food and living space. Some of these organisms are beneficial to us, most are neutral and some are hostile. When antibiotics wipe out some of the organisms, then resources are freed for other (potentially hostile) organisms to expand and take over. Each exposure to antibiotics changes our biome.

A growing body of research is showing that people with diabetes have a high level of pathogens in their intestines and that healthy intestinal bacteria have a protective effect preventing diabetes. Search the Internet for "diabetes gut flora".

Before the invention of refrigeration, fermentation was a common means to preserve food for consumption throughout the year. Live bacteria in yoghurt and sauerkraut help maintain a population of healthful bacteria within our digestive system. The first thing you eat at each meal should be a tablespoon of sauerkraut or some juice from sauerkraut. Sauerkraut is a natural probiotic that introduces beneficial healing flora into the digestive tract. Kefir is better for the gut than yoghurt.

Watch Your Diet

In order to study Type 1 diabetes in the laboratory, scientists create Type 1 diabetes in experimental animals by feeding them certain toxic substances that destroy the beta-cells. One of these beta-cell destroying substances is a chemical called alloxan, which just happens to be added to white flour during its manufacture. We do not suggest that alloxan is responsible for all Type 1 diabetes. More likely, there is a combination of factors involved, of which alloxan is one. However, if you need a reason to avoid eating white flour, this is a good one. Another reason to avoid white flour is that it contains bromide, which interferes with iodine in the body. Iodine is important to your thyroid gland which regulates your metabolic rate. Metabolic rate, insulin and diabetes are all related because your metabolism runs on fat and glucose.

A Harvard study found that eating healthy fats made a significant difference in preventing type II diabetes. Given that cell membranes are mostly made of oils, it seems logical that consumption of unhealthy fats will create unhealthy cellular membranes.

"The basic problem with diabetics is really an impairment of the fats metabolism system, and not that of the conversion of sugar. The sugar assimilation problem is only secondary." - Budwig page 12.

In a recent report from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (June 2001), researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health studied the relationship of types of fat to the risk of type-2 diabetes development. They prospectively (a superior "type" of study) followed over 84,000 women aged 34-59 years with no diabetes, circulatory disease, or cancer beginning in 1980 and followed them for over 14 years. The study revealed that simply substituting two percent of energy from trans-fatty acids with natural polyunsaturated fat (butter) could reduce the incidence of diabetes by a whopping 40 percent! Total fat had little to do with the development of diabetes, but the type of fat, namely trans fats, were the big culprit. - From Dr. Robert Jay Rowen's Second Opinion, April 2002, page 7.

("Trans fat" is found in hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated vegetable oil.)

"Overconsumption of refined vegetable oils leads to diabetes...When polyunsaturated fats from the diet are incorporated into cellular structure, the cell's ability to bind with insulin decreases, thus lowering its ability to get glucose...There is one fat that diabetics can eat without fear. That fat is coconut oil."- see Fife, pages 146-149

Cells can use either glucose or fats as fuel. It will be difficult for type II diabetics to lose weight because fat transport across cell membranes is also impaired.

Healthy fats include butter, coconut oil, olive oil and flax oil. See our page on healthy fats.

Nitrosamines are a carcinogenic chemical used in cosmetics. Nitrates are a chemical used to give preserved meats (hot dogs, bacon, etc.) a pink color. Nitrosamines are produced in the stomach when nitrates are consumed. Nitrosamines cause Alzheimer's disease (type 3 diabetes). 1, 2, 3

Iodine's ability to revive hormonal sensitivity seems to significantly improve insulin sensitivity. "We since have done a study of twelve diabetics and in six cases we were able to wean all of these patients off of medications for their diabetes. The range of daily iodine intake was from 50 mg to 100 mg per day. All diabetic patients were able to lower the total amount of medications necessary to control their diabetes."  - Dr. Jorge D. Flechas. A good source of iodine is Iodoral 50 mg tablets.

Magnesium is necessary for the manufacture of insulin. Magnesium and insulin work together in the body. A magnesium deficient diet increases insulin resistance. Read The Insulin Magnesium Story. Magnesium increases insulin sensitivity.

Potassium

"Adequate potassium intake, according to the US Panel on Dietary Reference Intake is 4.7 g (120 mmol)/day for adults, based on the assessment of the health benefits of potassium at this level on blood pressure, bone density and risk of kidney stones []. In general, dietary intake of potassium, at least in the USA and Canada, has been found to be much lower than this recommended value []."

"Potassium is a vital electrolyte. Both high and low levels are already associated with various medical conditions, including hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, osteoporosis and nephrolithiasis []. It is plausible, given the evidence presented in this article, that potassium also has a significant role in diabetes mellitus. In observational studies, there are fairly strong associations between serum potassium and diabetes risk, with lower serum levels associated with increased risk. In observational studies, there is a suggestion that dietary potassium may be associated with diabetes risk."

"Higher intake of potassium-rich foods has been associated with a reduced risk of diabetes."

Magnesium

Magnesium is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body, yet it receives little or no appreciation. 80% of Americans may be magnesium deficient. Magnesium is needed by more than 300 enymes in the body, and there are thousands of magnesium binding sites in the body indicating that it has a widespread and significant role to play.

Magnesium helps prevent type 2 diabetes.

The potassium supplement we recommend is 1/2 to 1 level teaspoon of potassium bicarbonate in water daily. One level teaspoon of potassium bicarbonate should give you about 2 grams of potassium. The magnesium supplement we recommend is called "Enzymatic Therapy - Krebs Magnesim-Potassium Chelates". Each of these tablets give you 250 mg of magnesium and 100 mg of potassium.

Diabetes is associated with a deficiency of vitamin C. According to Dr. Thomas Levy, page 68, vitamin C is involved in the synthesis of insulin and in regulating the release of insulin. High blood sugar and/or low serum insulin interfere with the cellular uptake of vitamin C. Dr. Levy writes that supplementation with vitamin C is extremely important for diabetics and may help prevent many of the negative impacts of diabetes on the body. Scurvy causes "pre-diabetes" and supplementation with vitamin C generally corrects this situation. See also Levy pages 121-131.

Vitamin E is found to help many diabetics reduce their insulin requirement.

Another factor is undoubtedly stress and fatigue of the beta-cells. There once was a time when people ate very little sugar. Refined foods (white sugar, white flour, white rice) were for the rich. Today the average American eats his/her weight in sugar each year. The pancreas must find this exhausting. How could it be otherwise? It is absurd to be eating so much sugar and then blame the body for the inability to handle it. Just as eating too much salt overtaxes the ability of the kidneys to remove excess salt, so too does eating too much sugar. Just as excess salt can back up into the system and cause edema, so does excess sugar back up into the system and also cause edema. Edema is swelling in the tissues caused by retention of water as the body tries to dilute the excess salt and sugar. The pressure created by edema is one of the causes of nerve damage (neuropathy) associated with diabetes. The overtaxing of the kidneys is one of the reasons why diabetes causes kidney damage. Excess sugar also damages blood vessels leading to heart disease, feeds cancer and causes premature aging. Is it too much to ask for people to eat less sugar?

Sugar

One level teaspoon of table sugar contains 4 grams. You can use this information when reading packaged food labels. The American Heart Association recommends a maximum consumption of 6 teaspoons of sugar a day for women and 9 teaspoons a day for men.

For example, a package of cookies may say there are 24 grams of sugar per serving of one cookie. So one cookie contains 6 teaspoons of sugar. This means a woman can eat one cookie per day, and a man can eat one and one half cookies per day. After eating their cookie, neither can eat anything else with added sugar that day.

This recommendation is for "added" sugar and does not count sugars that are naturally present in foods.

"Added" sugar includes sucrose, cane sugar, raw sugar, brown sugar, molasses, maltose, fructose, syrup, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, honey, etc.

If you want to sweeten a food, add fresh or dried fruit (raisins), or applesauce.

Commercial food companies use M.R.I. (magnetic resonance imaging) scans of the brains of test subjects to see when the "pleasure centers" of the brain become active in response to eating a product. The company adjusts the sugar, salt and fat content of the food to maximize the response (the "bliss point"). In other words, foods are being designed as addictive drugs in order to maximize sales, regardless of the effect on your health. This is why commercially prepared foods contain far more sugar than home-made foods. This why you cannot eat just one potato chip.

Sugar and obesity go together. Obesity is associated with diabetes and a dozen different cancers including cancer of the colon, esophagus, kidney, breast and pancreas.

Eating excess sugar can damage the kidneys. Many drugs damage the kidneys. The phosphoric acid in cola drinks damages the kidneys. As the kidneys become damaged, it is even more difficult for the body to remove excess sugar. The resulting higher blood sugar accelerates the damage to the kidneys creating a vicious cycle. Damage to the kidneys begins many years before diabetes is diagnosed.

A small amount of sugar helps the food go down. Too much sugar displaces the food and leaves you with a starving fat body.

Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs)

Within the body, an advanced glycation end product is the result of an unhealthy chemical reaction between sugar and protein or lipids in the absense of enzymes. AGEs can affect nearly every type of molecule and cell in the body. AGEs cause "cross-linking", which is a scientific way of saying that they gum things up. AGEs are proinflammatory and associated with various inflammatory diseases. AGEs cause the production of free radicals, which in turn create more damage. High blood glucose promotes the formation of AGEs. Fructose in the blood produces ten times more AGEs compared to glucose.

The formation and accumulation of AGEs contribute to the creation of plaques in the body. AGEs are associated with Alzheimer's Disease, arthritis, asthma, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease, cataracts in the eyes, diabetes mellitus, kidney damage, myocardial infarction, nephropathy, neuropathy, periodontitis, reduced muscle function, retinopathy, and stroke. The cross-links created by AGEs cause problems in both microcirculation and macrocirculation. Cross-linking reduces flexibility and increases stiffness throughout the body. The AGEs and free radicals contribute to the general decline in health associated with "aging".

AGEs are also absorbed into the body from food and cause AGE-related tissue injury. When food is exposed to heat during cooking, it is the formation of AGEs that cause the cooked food to turn brown. The browning is associated with denaturation and cross-linking of proteins, particularly lysine and arginine. Higher cooking temperatures and longer cooking times cause increased formation of AGEs. Dietary AGE restriction reduces serum AGE levels.

Healthy kidneys will excrete AGEs in the urine. However, when kidneys become damaged by AGEs then the kidneys become less able to excrete AGEs and a vicious circle ensues, with more AGEs in the blood causing increasing damage to the kidneys.

Nutrients that may help prevent damage caused by AGEs include enzymes, vitamin C, benfotiamine, alpha-lipoic acid, carnosine, and resveratrol. Raw foods offer enzymes, plus they do not contain the AGEs created by cooking. We suggest that at least half of what you eat should be raw. Plus, stop eating sugar.

Alzheimer's disease has been described as a kind of "diabetes of the brain" or "Type 3 Diabetes". Coconut oil has been found to help. Watch video.

Coconut oil and diabetes. Watch video.

Alzheimer's disease, dementia, obesity and diabetes can all be caused by low exposure to nitrosamines which are used as a preservative in foods such as hot dogs, bacon, smoked meat, and ham. Also, nitrate fertilizers can be incorporated into produce. In the body, the nitrates are converted to nitrites and then to nitrosamines.

Damage to an area of the brain called the hypothalamus causes obesity and a condition resembling diabetes in experimental animals. It is reported that consumption of the artificial sweetener aspartame can damage the hypothalamus. In our opinion, it is a cruel joke that aspartame is sold as a means to control weight. Monosodium glutamate (MSG) can also damage the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus regulates certain hormones. Some cases of obesity respond well to hormone treatment.

Chemicals and heavy metals that may poison the beta-cells include: cadmium, mercury, inorganic arsenic, lead, fluoride, and aluminum. Arsenic acts as a growth stimulant in chickens and is intentionally fed to chickens for this reason. Some of the arsenic is passed on to people who eat the chickens. The healthy alternative is pastured poultry 1, 2. To learn more, do an Internet search for "Chemical causes of diabetes". Hyperthermia is a good way to remove chemicals and heavy metals from the body.

Cell Phones can cause Diabetes

"Experts in the area of the biological effects of electromagnetic frequencies (EMF) and wireless technologies believe there's virtually no doubt that cell phones and related gadgets are capable of causing not only cancer but contributing to a wide variety of other conditions, from depression and diabetes to heart irregularities and impaired fertility. Researchers have now identified numerous mechanisms of harm, which explain how electromagnetic fields impact your cells and damages your DNA."

Learn About the Glycemic Index

Eating a refined food (sugar and starch) snack or meal causes blood sugar to soar. The result is the production of a massive amount of insulin by the pancreas, which causes blood sugar to plummet and then you feel intensely hungry, even though you ate just a short while before. This is why people who eat high glycemic index meals eat more often and tend to become obese. For a more stable blood sugar, you need to eat complex carbohydrates that take longer to digest and so create a moderate rise in blood sugar over a prolonged period of time. This is much easier on the pancreas. Complex carbohydrates are in vegetables, legumes, whole grains and fruits. Better yet, sprout your grains and legumes and eat the sprouts. This is the same diet we recommend for cancer and heart disease. Soft drinks, sugary fruit drinks, and refined grain products (white flour, white rice) are digested quickly and lead to wide swings in blood sugar.

Excess sugar not needed by cells for energy is stored in the liver as glycogen. When the liver has enough glycogen, it starts converting glucose to fat.

Sucrose sugar breaks down into glucose and fructose. The glucose is carried into cells by insulin to be burned for energy, or it is stored as glycogen. The fructose is converted to fat. Fructose sugar does not stimulate an insulin response. Instead it goes directly to the liver where it is converted to fat. Animals that hibernate create their enormous fat stores by this mechanism.

One of the causes of the present epidemic of obesity is high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). HFCS is cheaper than sugar and is found in manufactured food products in great quantities. "Unlike table sugar, HFCS doesn't trigger the release of leptin, the substance that makes you feel full and stop eating. Worse still, it doesn't suppress the release of ghrelin, the substance that makes you hungry." - Dr. David Williams. If you want to control your weight, it is absolutely necessary to avoid any products that contain high fructose corn syrup. HFCS is a manufactured product that first entered the food supply in the 1970's. More than any other food, HFCS is responsible for the obesity epidemic. High fructose corn syrup also ruins your liver.

Three nutrients that help sugar metabolism are:

- Benfotiamine (fat soluble thiamine or vitamin B1) that boosts activity of the enzyme transketolase which is necessary for healthy sugar metabolism

- Cinnamon - look for cinnamon with "type-A polymers"

- Chromium picolinate.

Search the Internet for more information.

Rebuild Your Pancreas!

The Ayurvedic herb Gymnema sylvestre can repair and regenerate the pancreas. - J Ethnopharm 90;30:265-279, 281-305, Int J Crude Drug Res 86;24[Dec]:171-176, J Vet Med Sci 97;59(9):753-7.

Sources of this herb include your local health food store, Mountain Home Nutritionals at 800-888-1415, or phone Natrol at 800-326-1520 to find a store near you that sells it.

As a general rule, it is probably better to rebuild your organs than take insulin, drugs, and/or supplements all of your life. Properly functioning organs offer the advantages of producing exactly what your body requires, in the right quantity and at the right time. Two organs of particular importance in fighting cancer are your liver which removes toxic chemicals from your body and your pancreas which creates digestive and metabolic enzymes, as well as insulin.

More information regarding Gymnema sylvestre, including its use as a possible treatment for juvenile diabetes, is available in a special report from Dr. David Williams. The report is available for free when you subscribe to his Alternatives newsletter (highly recommended).

Cinnamon helps with type 2 diabetes. Research in Israel indicates that an extract of cinnamon bark can break up amyloid plaques. Given that amyloid plaques appear in the pancreas of people with type 2 diabetes, this raises the possibility that these plaques might be an underlying cause of the problem. Plaques are the clumping of proteins and occur throughout the body in response oxidative damage due to the presence of heavy metals such as aluminum and toxic chemicals such as fluoride.

Fibrosis

Damaged kidneys become fibrous and the fine filter system can no longer function. The liver becomes fibrous when damaged by hepatitis C or exposure to alcohol. Radiation can cause fibrosis. Fibrosis is the appearance of connective tissue (scar tissue) within an organ. The only treatment at this time is an organ transplant.

Fibrosis happens only in the presence of a carbohydrate called galectin-3. Studies on animals by a company called Galectin Therapeutics indicates their galectin-3 blockers can reverse fibrosis in the kidneys and liver. Fibrotic diseases can also involve the heart, lungs, intestines, joints, and bone marrow.

Modified citrus pectin (PectaSol-C) blocks galectin-3 and prevents fibrosis. This is how modified citrus pectin helps prevent cancer metastasis.

We have read testimonials to the effect that another product called Anatabloc can also help reverse fibrosis. The main impact of Anatabloc is to reduce inflammation, but this in turn may affect the development of scar tissue or fibrosis. Anatabloc is a nutritional supplement and is available now. Search the Internet for more information.

See also enzymes and iodine. Iodine is helpful for fibrocystic disease and fibromyalgia. Amygdalin helps prevent kidney fibrosis.

Galectin-3 causes fibrosis and this is a healthy response to tissue injury. Fibrosis is part of the healing process. However, in the presence of chronic insults to the tissues, excessive fibrosis can become a problem. We suggest that it would be better to deal with the chronic problems, rather than focus too much on the fibrosis that results. The diet and lifestyle need to be cleaned up. No smoking or drinking alcohol, switch to a ketogenic diet, deal with underlying infections and toxicities that cause chronic inflammation, create an alkaline condition in the body, and consume an abundance of fresh foods and supplementary enzymes.

Get Some Exercise, Control Your Stress

To prevent or treat diabetes, dealing effectively with stress is as important as improving diet. Stress causes the adrenal glands to produce adrenaline which in turn raises blood sugar as part of the "fight or flight" response. When blood sugar is high, the pancreas secretes insulin. The sugar and insulin are meant to provide energy for the muscles, but in our modern world stress rarely results in muscular exertion so the sugar remains in the blood. This is an important point. We need to exercise daily in order for our cells to use up the higher blood sugar resulting from the stresses of our daily life. Exercise can help lower your blood sugar and your weight.

What happens if we do not exercise? In the absence of exercise the muscles simply do not need the extra fuel. It has nothing to do with "insulin resistance". There is nothing wrong with the cells. The body NEEDS regular exercise. This is how it was designed. So exercise regularly.

What happens if we do not exercise? So long as the blood sugar remains elevated, the pancreas will continue secreting insulin. Triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood go up, leading the way to heart disease. The level of the stress hormone cortisol goes up. Cortisol causes insulin resistance in the non-muscle areas of the body.

Fight or Flight Response Rest and Repair Response
Attentive, aroused Serene, unstimulated
Accelerated heart and lung Normal heart and lung
Increased blood sugar Normal blood sugar
Increased insulin Normal insulin
Increased cortisol Normal cortisol
Increased blood flow to muscles Increased blood flow to other organs
Digestion slows or stops Digestion continues
Sexual activity stops Normal sexuality

"But here's the kicker. Your nervous system has two operating systems - the 'fight or flight' stress response dominated by the sympathetic nervous system and the relaxation response run by the parasympathetic nervous system. Only when your nervous system is in a relaxation response do your body's self-repair mechanisms function!" - Lissa Rankin, M.D.

***

"The parasympathetic nerves ensure the survival of the internal body environment by accelerating the processes of digestion and assimilation of food, and the repair and rebuilding of body cells...The sympathetic and parasympathetic, however, not only speed up the functions of the organs over which each has control, but act as a brake on the other half of the autonomic nervous system by slowing its actions." - Dr. Felicia Drury Kliment, pages 12 - 13.

Hospital admissions for diseases of metabolism are reduced 65% for individuals practicing Transcendental Meditation (TM). TM is an effective technique to deal with stress.

Exhausted Glands and Organs

Chronic stress will exhaust the adrenal glands. Chronic demand for insulin will exhaust the pancreas. Chronic exposure to toxic chemicals and alcohol will damage and exhaust the liver.

An exhausted pancreas is unable to produce the pancreatic enzymes required to fight cancer. An exhausted adrenal gland produces less of the hormone aldosterone that is needed to maintain the proper balance between sodium and potassium in the body. This contributes to cancer and water retention (edema). The edema is caused by the body retaining fluid in order to dilute excess salt.

When the liver, pancreas and adrenal glands (1, 2, 3, 4) are exhausted and you eat too much sugar, where does it go? The cancer tumor is a last resort adaptation designed to eat up the surplus sugar.

Diabetic Neuropathy

Type 2 diabetes is associated with magnesium deficiency and a buildup of toxic substances in the body. Magnesium is a treatment for Diabetic Neuropathy. Supplementation with DMG (Dimethylglycine) also helps prevent complications from diabetes. Another treatment for the kidney, eye and nerve damage caused by diabetes is lipid soluble thiamine (vitamin B1) called benfotiamine. Thiamine becomes lipid soluble in the presence of allicin which is found in garlic. Faraday Cloth, trade named Farabloc may also be helpful with diabetic neuropathy as well as many other conditions. A healthy adult will probably not be bothered by high frequency electromagnetic radiation coming from all the electrical devices that constantly surround us these days. However, any area of your body that is less than healthy may be aggravated by constant bombardment from external sources of high frequency electromagnetism. Farabloc will block this external electromagnetic radiation. Earthing may also be effective. Incredisocks, Incredibraces and Incredisoles from Incrediwear are reported to improve circulation in damaged or cold parts of the body.

For pain associated with nerve damage try healing the nerves with AgmaSet.

Propolis is a substance made by honey bees to protect their hive. Propolis is found to be antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal. Propolis is also anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.

Propolis aids healing when sprayed on wounds, surgical incisions, burns, and tissue damage associated with diabetes such as foot ulcers. Propolis enhances the health of the mouth, even helping to regenerate tooth pulp. Propolis boosts the effectiveness of the immune system and stimulates natural killer (NK) to attack cancer. Propolis is effective against cold sores, genital herpes and vaginal yeast. Propolis kills MRSA, drug-resistant E. coli, and even helps the common cold.

Propolis is not water soluble, but will dissolve in alcohol. Worker B Propolizer is half propolis and half alcohol. Search the internet for more information about propolis, royal jelly, bee pollen, honey and other bee products.

(Note:  Most "honey" sold in grocery stores is not honey at all. It is an artificial "honey" made from other sweeteners and imported from China. Honey sold at farmer's markets is more likely to be genuine. 1)

Sugar is addictive. The easiest way to to reduce sugar consumption is to switch to a ketogenic diet. Dr. Robert Atkins found the ketogenic diet to be effective to successfully treat obesity, diabetes, heart disease, hypoglycemia, and metabolic syndrome.

This simple program should help ensure healthy blood sugar and cancer prevention. The following table relates our 8 step cancer program to the above information regarding diabetes.

 8 Step Cancer Program

Diabetes Program

1.More oxygen Oxygen is necessary for the mitochondria to metabolize glucose. In the absence of sufficient oxygen cells may be damaged by the prolonged presence of a high level of sugar. According to Dr. Thomas Seyfried, intermittent fasting will allow the body to dissolve damaged mitochondria and recycle their constituents to healthy mitochondria.
2.More alkalinity Diabetes is one of many diseases that Dr. Carl Reich found associated with an acid condition in the physiology. The alkaline mineral magnesium is necessary for the manufacture of insulin. Magnesium and insulin work together in the body. A magnesium deficient diet increases insulin resistance and magnesium increases insulin sensitivity.
3.Less free radicals Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) cause the creation of free radicals. Together, AGEs and free radicals damage the physiology.
4.More exercise Stress raises blood sugar as part of the "fight or flight" response. Exercise helps use up this sugar that will otherwise remain in the blood provoking the pancreas to produce more insulin.
5.HyperthermiaHelps to remove free radicals (heavy metals and toxic chemicals) from the body and improves circulation.
6.More enzymesEnzymes are necessary to metabolize sugar. In the absence of enzymes, sugar will damage the body by creating Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs), which are in turn associated with free radicals.
7. Nutrient-dense diet, B17, F, C, D & Glyconutrients A diet of complex carbohydrates, healthy fats and plant-based protein tends to be more nutrient dense, contains less sugar and maintains a steadier blood sugar level. Green leafy vegetation tends to contain abundant magnesium. Healthy fats (vitamin F) are necessary for healthy cellular membranes and provide an alternative source of fuel (ketogenic diet). Sunlight and vitamin D help prevent diabetes. Kefir, sauerkraut and other fermented foods help maintain healthy gut flora. Iodine helps prevent and remove diabetes.
8.Transcendental Meditation Deep rest and release of stress result in lower blood sugar.

Doctors will say that you have not cured diabetes, you are just controlling diabetes by means of diet and lifestyle. You could say the same thing about any health problem that goes away when you improve your diet and lifestyle.
