"Empowering Women's Wisdom Update"
December 21, 2001
Today is the Winter Solstice, the shortest day and longest night of the year. I love this day, and always do something special, even if it's just sitting in the dark for a few minutes with a lighted candle beside me, thinking about what seeds within me are growing in the darkness right now. The Winter Solstice means both symbolically and literally that the dark night can't get any longer. We've reached a turning point. The light now returns in nature, reminding us that the same thing is possible in our own lives if we simply surrender to the natural wisdom that flows through us.
To that end, I offer you the following thoughts to help you bring closure to this past year, and enter the New Year full of light and hope.
Look around you or within you right now, for evidence of the light. I've felt it pouring in very, very strongly ever since September 11. Here's a specific piece of Solstice light from my own life. Yesterday, I had a conversation with Dr. John Hagelin, a world authority in the area of physics known as the unified quantum field. (As it turns out, Dr. Hagelin and I both graduated from Dartmouth at the same ceremony in May of 1975 - he with a degree in physics, and me with an M.D. I always love those connections - God's way of remaining anonymous.) Anyway, Dr. Hagelin has spent the last month in Washington, D.C. on behalf of the Institute of Science, Technology, and Public Policy, presenting government officials with a practical technology for preventing terrorism and violence that has been validated by more than 50 replications and 19 studies published in leading peer-reviewed scientific journals. This approach, which is being called the Invincible Defense Technology, is based on the fact that all of creation evolves from a Unified Field of Consciousness, which all of us are part of and by which we are all affected. When one person elevates her or his consciousness, it positively affects the Unified Field for the betterment of all. When thousands of people do this simultaneously and with conscious intent, a phenomenon known as "coherence" develops and the positive effects are magnified substantially. (This is what Jesus meant when he said, "Whenever two or more of you are gathered in my name, there will I be also.") The Invincible Defense Technology that Hagelin and his group are implementing is based on the many studies that have shown that when a specific number of people (about 7,000) are influencing the Unified Field by practicing advanced meditation techniques based on ancient Vedic traditions, the number of violent event! s in and around that area substantially decreases, even when all other possible variables are accounted for. The studies that have validated this approach are truly awe-inspiring and uplifting, and prove beyond the shadow of a doubt how powerful a creative force human consciousness and intent really are. The scientific validation of the efficacy of prayer is another example of this same principle. (To read John Hagelin's proposal with a summary of the technology and the studies, please click here.)
The Institute of Science, Technology, and Public Policy is seeking funding to establish a permanent home for the peacekeepers of Invincible Defense Technology on the banks of the Ganges River in India. The efforts of this group are estimated to be large enough to favorably impact the Unified Field in a way so substantial that the threat of terrorism will decrease substantially, as will violence, stress, and other sources of tension and unrest. Dr. Hagelin told me that the reception to this proposal in Washington has been very good, and that it may even become part of the budget for the Department of Defense in time.
The Light is within you. You don't have to go outside yourself to look for it.... Let the light guide you this Solstice. Let the darkness within you rise up and be illuminated so you can let it go as you enter the New Year. The time has never been better. We now know that conventional strategies of defense are simply inadequate for the times in which we live - when anyone can learn how to make and deploy weapons of mass destruction on the Internet! We now know that conventional strategies for defending the old conventional family structure aren't working, either. As a result, we've all been pushed to go more deeply than ever before - and when we go deep enough, we always reach the light inside, the Source of consciousness itself. The solution to any conflict or darkness in your life is always the same - whether within a family or between nations. Lighten up - let the light illuminate your personal darkness. Know that when you feel and then release your own darkness, you help make more light available to everyone. And the Unified Field gets even lighter. Shadows run away from you. And so do terrorists. It's that simple.
