"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease." | *****ALERT***** *****ALERT***** Medical Malpractice Alert! Pertains to Physicians treating patients for the following conditions: Alzheimers Physicians treating patients for any of the above conditions may soon be accused of negligence and malpractice if their patients had not been informed about the cultural/lifestyle cause of their disease, according to the Institute for the Study of Culturogenic Disease (ISCD). ISCD, a medical think tank directed by internationally acclaimed medical anthropologists Sydney Ross Singer and Soma Grismaijer, projects that public opinion will soon require physicians to tell their patients how certain lifestyle practices may be responsible for their condition. "Prescribing treatment without discussing or recommending the elimination of these lifestyle/cultural practices that cause disease could be construed as either negligence, or conflict of interest," Singer explains. "The public is increasingly demanding prevention over treatment, eliminating the cause of disease over the management of symptoms with drugs or surgery." While most physicians already do this for some diseases, such as the link between cigarette smoking and lung cancer, or obesity and heart disease, research conducted by ISCD reveals that most physicians are unaware of the simple lifestyle causes of the above listed conditions, making them vulnerable to negligence and malpractice claims. ISCD is currently educating physicians and the general public on these lifestyle causes of the above maladies at its free online Self Study Center, at http://www.SelfStudyCenter.org. Singer and Grismaijer can be reached at 808-935-5563. |
